We are somewhat frustrated but so glad God is in control. We were shown several files, most of the children had things that we were not comfortable with. We were there for 1 hour+ and it came down to, "you need to choose now your time is up." There was a 6-year-old girl we liked but ended up she had an older teenage brother and it would be too difficult and time consuming to separate, if it was even possible. We chose a 7 year-old girl but waiting to hear if that situation is possible. There was also a sibling set of 2 girls, age 10 and 11, that are available but we will not pursue them as we feel like we only want 1 child at this time. Gary and I always discussed that we would not bring home a child that we did not feel was right for us. As frustrating as it all is, we know what our hearts are telling us and so we are waiting to hear something tomorrow about the 7 year-old girl. If she is not available, then we will do the paperwork to get a second appointment with the SDA. Please pray that God's will be done and that He is glorified through all of this.
Here are more photos of sightseeing. The last one, where the red sign is, is the gate we walk through to get to our apartment.
Hi I just came across your blog! How exciting to be in Ukraine! As a three time Ukrainian adoptive parent(we have 5 sons) I know how nerve racking the process can be. I just want to encourage you about adopting two children at the same time. We adopted three. I know everyone has their own limits, but I will say we are so glad we took all three at once. They will have come from the same place and have the same biological history, which is really a great thing. Again, if there are two children whom are realatively healthy and will be with minimal hiccups, I would seriously consider them. Just my two cents.

Hoping you get good news about this 7 year old girl! Don't be discouraged if you end up waiting for a second appointment. We found our daughter after waiting 2 weeks for a second appointment. God knows who your child is, and He is more than able to lead you to that specific child. Blessings as you seek His will for your family!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you got my first message. How are things going...bed, food, noise. The pictures are great. I will take my computer over and show Charlotte and Vernon on Friday. I showed Mom the first pictures yesterday. GB didn't have fun on the plane ride?? When do you travel to see this little girl? I can't wait to tell Leah. She will be so excited to have a cousin to play with.
ReplyDeleteTodd is going to call Theron and check on him.
Let me know if you need anything.
Pastor Bob and the church are excited for you & Gary and are praying for you.
That's too bad things went that way. We must have picked a kid they thought was rotten. They showed us about three files, then we requested to see our son's file. Of course it was lost somewhere and they had to go in search of it. But, they found it, we said yes, and we went and got him. I hope yours goes as smoothly.
ReplyDeleteWe went back and forth about adopting one or two. Now after the fact, adopting two was the best thing we did. In comparing their transition with my sister's transition when she was adopted alone...no comparison..my kiddos are adjusting and have one another. Follow your hearts and God will lead you to the right kid!
ReplyDeletePray for you as you go through this time. God knows exactly what child is meant for you. We have been amazed at how Leeza and Zhenya turned out to be PERFECT for us! Even though at the time we had no real clear sign that they were the right ones.
