Orphan Care

In compiling our dossier, I have been thinking a lot about orphans and the responses I get when others find out we are adopting from Ukraine.  Responses that include, I could never do that, why Ukraine and not here, doesn't it cost alot of money or my favorite, hope it works for you this time.  While all of these responses are well meaning, I don't really view our last trip to Ukraine as it "not working out."  I see it as God preparing our hearts and minds for what He has for us.  Has it cost us alot of money?  Absolutely.  But, when God calls me to something, I am not one to give up, no matter what the cost.  On the bright side, I do get responses that warm my heart by those people that have either been there or those that can see the big picture, outside their own little world.

I love listening to Christian music and I have just been so moved lately by a song by Mandisa, Waiting for Tomorrow.  I will attach the song but the words that keep coming back to me are,

You made me for so much more than
sitting on the side lines.
I don't want to look back and wonder
if good enough could have been better
Everyday's a day that's borrowed
so why am I waiting for tomorrow.

I follow several blogs of those adopting or have adopted from Ukraine and my heart breaks when I see what happens to those children that haven't been chosen yet. I would like to challenge anyone reading my blog to do something to help the least of these, whether it be praying for the families that are adopting, supporting these families financially or consider that God could be calling you to adopt. Please go to this link, http://pretreadoptionblog.blogspot.com/ and click on any of the blogs listed in the left hand column. I am praying that these real life stories will forever change you.
